My name is Stephen Harper. Welcome to my profile! I am a multi instrumentalist and producer who love to perform, write, record and teach music. I started my music journey at the age of 3 and since then I haven’t stopped playing. I have been blessed to work with many different people in the music industry as well as other artists such as painters and play writers. I also have experience in live sound and as recording engineer. I have my bachelors degree in jazz studies and I am currently getting my masters in jazz performance. Outside of music I also love gaming, reading, video editing, and anything social. Growing up watching my dad in the music industry and being a professional in the industry as well, I have learned a lot. I am excited at the opportunity to share what I’ve learned and learn from others as well. Let’s get to work!

Born in Huntington, WV in 1978. Grew up on the sounds of classic rockers played through the magic of vinyl--I hated it as a 10-year old, but who knew I'd love it as a 45-year old. Only professional lessons I ever took were on the piano. Picked up a friend's bass as a 19-year old, and he showed me how to play the D-C-G progression for Sweet Home Alabama...that's all it took. Eventually switching to rhythm guitar and refining/expanding my instrumental repertoire over the years, I found myself taking on a primary vocals role in addition to my rhythm guitarist duties as one half of the on-again, off-again acoustic duo, eMpTy. My best bud of over 20 years picked up the better 50% of the group as the second vocalist and lead guitarist. As an amateur recorder and producer, I have mixed and mastered multiple cover tracks and several originals. I am currently working on my fourth EP, which will include a guest vocal appearance by none other than my musically-inspired, internally harmonious and naturally rhythmic daughter of 9 years. Joshua's (Motorcat) electronic musical journey spans over two decades, ignited by a transformative trip to England and the Netherlands in the mid-90s where he was formally introduced to the new sounds he was hearing and the scene that was flourish there. This experience sparked a passion that propelled him into the wave of electronic music to hit Vancouver Island in the 90s. Taken in by the pioneering Djs at Stylus Records Victoria, Joshua played alongside the best local underground and international Djs and as a commercial Dj for over a decade. However, driven by a desire to explore new sonic territories, Joshua took a hiatus from the electronic realm to delve back into conventional music and pursue studies in music management to deepen his understanding of the industry. Now, armed with a wealth of experience and knowledge, he's returned to his roots as Motorcat, once again crafting captivating , flesh moving tracks that demand interaction.
