My name is DC Medina from Hartford, Connecticut. I was born in the Bronx in the early 90s and once called the paradise of Puerto Rico home. I have been writing professionally for over ten years. In college, I minored in creative writing and showcased my prowess by working for the school's paper and the literary magazine as a section and genre editor respectively. I have freelanced as a news reporter, and wrote for EDMTunes.com between 2012 and 2013, covering events and reviewing music. My musical journey began in 2002 with a jestful death metal band I started with my best friend called "Chaos Informed." I learned the trumpet, timbales, drums, and a bit of the piano between 2002-2008. But in 2009, FL Studio turned my world around, sparking my music production career. Dutch house remixes in 2010 of classic Deadmau5 and Skrillex songs garnered me some attention and led me to my first full album, "The Russian Lady Diaries," in 2012. Since then, I have released 3 full albums, 5 EPs, and numerous singles.

NERDOfficial was born August 30th, 1994 in Georgetown, Guyana. He moved to the United States at the age of 8 in 2003 and has since then became a native to Decatur, GA. From the age of 10, NERD began showing strong interests in cartoons, anime, video games, music and art. He had a vision of becoming a graphic or video game designer but as he transitioned to high school he found his true love for music.In late 2017 NERD immediately released his debut single called “WERK” featuring King.K & Kid Mar$$. The single was a huge success generating over 20k streams on SoundCloud in 24 hours. NERD followed up his successful release with 2 more singles: “STATUS” and “BROKE”, which generated over 50k streams combined. Rebymel is an indie singer, songwriter, musician and producer. She attended piano classes and lessons to acquire the classical singing technique at the music institute. At the age of 12 she began writing lyrics and composing her first original pop music songs. In 2013 Rebymel released her first original song "Outside my Love" that entered the top 40 of the British pop/rock chart. In 2014 her single titled "I'm Here" caught the attention of the American indie rock radio stations. Rebymel collaborated behind the scenes with some international artists. In 2020 she released a self-produced version of the song "I'm Here" rearranged for the piano, under the self named record label 'Rebymel Music'. The following years Rebymel participated in some contests for musicians, composers and producers of Yamaha Entertainment, Native Instruments and Cymatics with the songs 'Colors in the Rainbow', 'Dynamic E-Motion' and 'Craziness' respectively. In 2024 she published 'Outside My Love' (EDM Remix).

Matt Gerhard is a Producer/Engineer/Multi-Instrumentalist based in Austin, TX. Matt is the Co-Owner of Hen House Recording and the Staff Engineer at Public Hi-Fi Studios. As well as many leading producers including Jim Eno, Joe Chiccarelli, Charlie Sexton, Steve Berlin, Jack Lawrence, and Rick Hart. Q&A Q: Analog or digital and why? A: Most mixing projects lately are a combo of the two. I mix in the box and print outboard gear and effects. Then the mix is printed through my API 8200 summing mixer. I would love to do more all analog tape sessions, because it's a fun and different workflow but realistically the budgets and time constraints are limited. Q: What do you like most about your job? A: Getting to work with all kinds of people and personalities in many different styles of music. I think that really keeps me fresh. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do? A: That mixing and mastering is magic and everything can be fixed. Don't get me wrong a lot can be fixed, but there is no substitute for great source material. The job of mixing and mastering is to enhance the song. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients? A: What direction do you want the mix to go? On a 1-10 scale, 1 being pretty close to the rough mix but a little more polished/hi-fi or 10 pretty unrecognizable from the rough mix? Q: Can you share one music production tip? A: Listen! Be fearless and experiment. Turn that delay all the way up maybe it'll work, maybe it won't? You don't know unless you try. Also don't be afraid to kill your darlings. Q: What type of music do you usually work on? A: All kinds, thats my favorite part of the job Q: What do you bring to a song? A: Fresh ears and a new perspective Q: What's your typical work process? A: For mixing, I try to learn as much about the song as I can. I have a detailed conversation with the artist and try and get an idea of the vision for the song before I start. A rough mix is always helpful I listen to that a couple of times and right down my ideas and notes. Once I feel like I'm at a got place with the mix I'll send it to the artist for notes and then revise based on any notes they have until they're happy with the mix. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you? A: Oh boy, lots of people. I really love people like Tchad Blake and Dave Fridmann who are making wild sounds you've never heard before. As well as folks who came up more in the "documentarian" engineering world. People like Sam Phillips, Tom Dowd, Steve Albini who are trying to capture the performance in the room. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients. A: Mixing, Mastering, Editing.

I have been an in-house engineer for 10 years, at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool and Cube Recording in Cornwall, UK. I love listening AND working on music from many different genres. A lot of mix engineers today use mix templates to speed up their mixing process - I choose against this - I always approach mixing artist's tracks differently, which has always got me better results! All I ask for is a rough mix of your track and 'reference' tracks for mixing. Show me a song you wish your song to be mixed like!
