About Michael Burton

Michael’s creative foundation was conceived by his late father Michael Burton Sr., and late grandfather, Charles Street who was lead gospel quartet singer with the Messiahs of Glory, on the west side of Chicago. Michael began exploring poetry and hip-hop, after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease at the age of 18. By the early 2000’s he got inspired to write a poem to accompany his artwork titled Let Me Paint a Picture while listening to poet J.Ivy’s verse on Abstract Mindstate’s album We Paid Let Us In. Soon after, Michael participated in open mics around Chicago for a few years. Though he never stopped writing, sharing his poetry resurged during Covid season and life-changing events led to experimenting with spoken word and multimedia. Soon after, this led to his first major feature on Dell-P's groundbreaking album "The People's Emcee," with Speech of Arrested Development, and is currently working on his first album with bassist and producer Andre Cè Celestino.
