About
DJ Judah. I love music therefore I play music. I’ve heard KRS ONE say many times “I am Hip Hop.” Me being a fan of KRS One and Boogie Down Productions, I agree that he is Hip Hop. I also know that I am Hip Hop. I loved Hip Hop before there was Hip Hop as we know it. I loved Hip Hop when Hip Hop was James Brown and when Hip Hop was the family gathering every weekend with the kids being in a back room playing games and the adults playing cards, gambling, and drinking and having knock down drag out fights. I remember when Hip Hop was my mother drinking Vodka and playing Gladys Knight all day on Sunday. I remember when Hip Hop was a young cat at a Park Jam in the summertime rhyming on a mic to a breakbeat with everyone in the park going crazy. I remember when I first heard Sugar Hill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight on the radio. That was “Real Hip Hop!” I remember when you had to listen to a song on the radio whenever it came on to write down the words to the song. Every time the song came on you would continue where you left off from before. That was Hip Hop. I remember when I first heard RUN DMC’s Sucker MC’s. I remember when the Wu Tang Clan had tapes in the streets before they were signed. I could go on and on. I was inspired by my uncle Okon to be a DJ. Okon was a “Fly DJ back in the late 70’s. I remember having my friends come over when he wasn’t home, and we would play around on his turntables. He formed a rap group with me and my cousin. Our name was the Dynasty crew, and Okon wrote all our rhymes. To me, Hip Hop is all about the drum, “The Boom Bap,” middle schools and creating a drum kit on the lunchroom table. Lil Nas X said, “you can’t tell me nothing.” In terms of Hip Hop, you can’t tell me nothing! I was a fan from the start, and I am a fan now. I have seen it all, I am Hip Hop, therefore my music is Hip Hop, “Boom Bap!” Show less
