Kenneth 'KP' Pruitt
About Kenneth 'KP' Pruitt
Deeply rooted in music production, beginning as a songwriter, apprenticing for the family label VRI Records, and then venturing out blaze my own trail. This educational experience laid the foundation and set the stage for the future career I would embark. I was involved in or witness to the entire operation from the formation of the group, recording sessions, photo and video shoots, and much of the behind the scenes work, often wearing multiple hats at the same time. The path naturally led me to Los Angeles to further my pursuits when I attended Musicians Institute’s R.I.T. program. Later I spent some time working on other independent personal projects, developing my brand, working as an intern and 2nd engineer at a Hollywood recording and audio post facility, assisting other film and television music professionals and continuing to write. I also enriched my skills by furthering my education with classes in film editing, multimedia and completing my AA at West Los Angeles College. In 2012, years after an earlier chance meeting with another aspiring engineer and other events would prove to be preordained, I joined the incredible team at Atlantic/APG as a recording engineer for the industry's BEST writers and producers and artists. It is the one opportunity that makes full a circle of circumstances that my journey has encountered over the years. Working under the direction of Mike Caren and the rest of the amazing team he is building at Atlantic/APG, I was in one of the best places to continue rising my stock, skills and lasting success while literally living out my dreams everyday. Now, being led back home to Sacramento, what seemed a death sentence has now began to manifest itself as the culmination of my journey discovering myself, and emerging is more confident and focused vision with the proper discipline needed to see a bigger picture than I imagined before. 2021 begins full steam ahead, with the completion of Homeroom Production Studio, the official relaunch of Innerstate Music Group and Innerstate Sound, enrollment at San Francisco State University to complete my baccalaureate, and an earnest, dedicated mission to realize success in my music production pursuits though securing artist placements, synch and licensing opportunities, and ultimately a publishing deal that would seek to elevate my status to colleague among the very professionals who I have been fortunate to work with in my engineering role over the years.
