About Duncan Truter

I have been involved in the music industry for 12 years, starting as a session musician for large festival and studio productions, then later holding various roles in business and management. I've held positions in artist management, music journalism/TV production, teaching, and multimedia product management for international brands. I have also sat as a board member for a non-profit, as well as an artist collective, and incorporated a performance group in 2011 that I helped run for 3 years. I've placed music on radio and in Hollywood movie trailers, worked with Juno award winning artist "Pomo", recorded and produced in Bryan Adams' studio "The Warehouse", and have organically grown streaming accounts beyond 1 million plays per year. My coaching and artist development has led to record label deals, synchronization opportunities, and collaborations with major artists and producers. I've received the VCC Music Entrance Award, VCC Music Jury Award, Warwick Business School Scholarships, and sponsored attendance to the McGill Executive Institute in Effective Leadership. Notable performances: - Montreal International Jazz Festival - Ottawa Bluesfest - Vancouver Folk Music Festival - Shambhala Music Festival - North by Northeast (NXNE) - Pop Montreal Notable organizations I've worked with: - The Feldman Agency - RipTide Music Group - Nimbus Recording School - The Warehouse Studio - Mike Moloney Entertainment - Bell Fibe TV (TV1) - FACTOR - The Vocalist Magazine Featured in/at: - The Georgia Straight - BeatRoute Magazine - LaSalle College, Panel Judge and Guest Speaker - HipHop Vancouver I offer a variety of writing, marketing, and coaching services to help refine your image, sound, and artistic vision. My work is catered to your unique goals (which we establish and clarify together), with the ultimate goal of strategically positioning your artistry in the market for a sustainable career. I've been both an artist myself, music industry professional, and corporate manager, and so my services blend these experiences to provide my clients with a well-rounded and holistic approach. Nothing brings me greater joy than facilitating the self-discovery process within an artist, unblocking them creatively, and selling their unique brand offering to the world. I firmly believe that artists deserve to be supported in order to launch and sustain a career. Artists should not be expected to be business professionals, and should not feel like they are alone on that front. In addition, I am sensitive to the financial limitations of various artists, and so I strive to give my best work for a discounted price here on the LANDR Network platform. Successful artists who I have known and worked with throughout the years invested in their own self-discovery, and built structure around that authenticity in order to stay consistent in the pursuit of their goals. We can work on all of that together: - Writing services strengthen and articulate your unique mission and purpose, communicating your "best self" to fans and industry professionals. - Marketing services get your music heard and your brand recognized, and may include the assembly of a team to maximize results. - Feedback and consulting services give you straight, honest, and constructive feedback so that you can take ACTION on the information provided to you. - Coaching services ensure you are focusing your efforts in the right places and that you retain the mental fortitude to fulfill your dreams. My framework is designed to focus on your unique journey, and to bring out hidden talents that develop you further as an artist.
