About Collin Terrel

Government name. No gimmicks. There's no need for fabrication or embellishment when you've lived a life worth rapping about. Collin Terrel grew up splitting time between the violent, crime-ridden streets of Inglewood, CA and the peaceful suburb of West Covina, CA. He used this unique position between two worlds to sharpen his critiques of the American system which simultaneously raised him in deep inequity and promised social mobility through sports and fame. He parlayed that promise using basketball to fund an undergraduate degree and mind-opening experiences playing professionally abroad. Realizing how empty that promise actually was, he attended graduate school and returned to his first love of music as a journalist. An insider view from the editorial side of the industry exposed him to different, yet familiar inequities of the same failing American system. Collin now studies that system on the doctoral level, and his music is where he shares his rawest indictments of that system. With lyrical complexity, dexterity, and poignancy matched by very few, Collin unabashedly skewers a system that has continually failed him and those he loves. The time for change has come. Collin is ready to join the voices that will usher it in.
