About Mark Simmons
Thanks for reading my profile! I'm a pianist, composer, and educator, living in France. I started playing keyboards in a group called Babooshka many years ago in Los Angeles. I later became interested in studying classical piano and composition. Life's circumstances led me away from music for a while, but when my husband and I moved to France I began teaching piano. This experience has allowed me to share my passion with young learners, and motivated me to start studying piano and composition again. I'm interested in creating music that falls somewhere between neo-classical and ambient. More than anything, experiences of love and loss have influenced the emotional content of my music. Reflection on the intensity of these emotions has inspired me to find a sound that tries to echo feelings of joy, nostalgia, melancholy, hope and longing. My aim is to create spacious music that will hopefully resonate with the listener who is looking for a contemplative listening experience.
