About Neil Farmer and Broke Road

Neil Farmer is a singer/songwriter and recording artist from Melbourne, Victoria AUSTRALIA. Neil has been writing and performing his own songs since his time at The Armidale School (TAS) in New South Wales. At Tas he was involved in musical theatre such as Gilbert and Sullivan and Jesus Christ Superstar in which he played Jesus. He was under the mentorship of acclaimed composer, musical director and choirmaster Jim Reeves, matriculating in 1981. Upon leaving school Neil pursued some study at the University of New England enrolling in Musicology, Music Composition, Drama and English Literature throughout 1982. In 1983 and 1984 he performed in hotels and clubs throughout the Hunter Valley singing and playing his guitar as a solo artist and in several duo projects with other guitarists. In 1985 he moved to Port Augusta in South Australia where he formed a band Double Adaptor and was quite successful in regional towns of the area with some success playing both covers and originals until 1986.
