About Alex Broadgate
Hi! I am a 26 year old songwriter based in London. I was brought up listening to the pop and soul music of the sixties and seventies. I have a good ear for catchy melodies and write thoughtful lyrics. My favourite vocalists of all time include Frank Ocean, Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke and I mostly listen to current artists that do things their own way and have an unmistakably recognisable sound. Including Frank Ocean ,Tyler, The Creator, Mac DeMarco and Tame Impala to name a few examples. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Huddersfield. During which, I wrote and recorded an album that merges genres such as indie, soul, gospel, folk and rock. As well as, writing and recording singles with local artists. My strengths lie in songwriting. Specifically folk and indie-style melodies and poetic lyrics taking inspiration from writers such as Alex Turner, Paul Simon and Bob Dylan.
