After years spent perfecting his craft as a guitarist for some of the most notable acts to come out of Staten Island's rich and diverse local music scene (Paul & The Tall Trees, Eamon, and many more), as well as becoming a fixture at various acoustic/open-mic showcases, singer/songwriter Sergio Napoletano has found his stride....and his band. With an enormous support group of musicians/friends, the band doesn't just play songs but creates atmosphere. As a live act, the band can go from light and airy to gritty and tight, sometimes trading in their sweet polished sound for a more clunky indie-rock vibe which often demonstrates the real strength of their music: concise, well written songs and undeniable musical chemistry.

I'm an engineer, drummer and percussionist who's worked with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and The National Art Center Orchestra, Capital Brass Works, along with many other bands and ensembles. I made the move to Montreal as a drummer and audio engineer in 2011 and became a full-time freelancer. I've toured extensively throughout 2013, and since returning to Montreal I've been working mainly as a recording and mixing engineer. I had a chance to work on 2 Felix winning albums, with Alex Desilets, Windigo and Laurence Jalbert, Ma Route, and was recently recording engineer for the Juno and Canadian Folk Music Award-nominated album Hapax, by the band Oktopus (who I now play drums with). As for the genre of music that I work on, I don't necessarily decide that for myself, but it gets determined by the projects I get hired to work on. I like music that's been well-honed, and the importance of the genre for me is secondary to that. I find the music itself tells me where to take the sound, and by having good communication with the artist/s we can make sure we're thinking along the same lines, plus I get to learn what the artist hears/has in mind. When I do work on a new genre, I like to find new tricks that associate with that genre, but I also have a bag of my own tricks that I can bring to the table, which helps me bring a different light to a common sound.

With 30+ years in the business, working for and collaborating with a multitude of commercially successful artists, producers, DJs, film composers and advertising agencies, I am always looking for fresh projects that challenge my audiophile mind. In my own studio, I usually write & produce in Ableton Live, and record, mix and master in ProTools. Happy in either environment, I sometimes use both concurrently via Rewire. I did a *lot* of remixing in the 90s and 00s, and still enjoy doing so. Leftfield and experimental sound design have always been favourites of mine, as well as composing to picture. Composition for TV advertising in New York, and collaboration on a number of feature films with the named composers brought plenty of sound to picture experience, and I taught Audio Post Production at Full Sail, Orlando. I've been playing flute since 1997. I have several degrees in music performance, and I have recorded on countless projects. I've performed in the Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, Ottawa and Montreal's Jazz festivals, and the Marciac Jazz festival. I have a lot of experience in knowing in the moment what a song might need, and being able to come up with new ideas that suit the vibe of the song. I came up learning heavy metal and classic rock guitar solos on the flute, and kept working with that and eventually switched to jazz, with a focus in improvisation. I also learned the sax shortly after, and I am able to play tenor, alto, soprano and Baritone, even at the same time!! I've studied with some of the best saxophonists in the world, including David Binney, George Garzone, Donny McCaslin and Dave Liebman. I also play clarinet, keyboards and percussion. I came up in a rich musical background so I am able to perform and interpret in many different styles, from pop to rock, to reggae, to jazz, to hip hop to even techno. I love playing different styles and fusing them together. I'm looking forward to being able to work together and recording on your tracks!!!
