One Bright Pearl
About One Bright Pearl
The first sparse tracks for the Reconciliation EP were initially recorded 25 years ago in a tiny bedroom under Fjeld-Solberg’s bunk bed. Using only one Røde K2 mic, a one channel Focusrite preamp and some cracked software, the EP was recorded in just a few weeks. But with no record deal in sight and streaming yet to be invented, the EP quickly gathered dust. But sometimes fate steps in. In 2023, amidst dust and memorabilia, Fjeld-Solberg found the CD that contained the stereo master of the songs he had recorded in his twenties. Fjeld-Solberg quickly resolved to rescue the recordings. Now, rearranged to complete the conceptualization of the work, Reconciliation portraits the transition from youth to old age and death. In doing so, Reconciliation is a meditation on time, identity, and our conscious experience. It invites questions about how we carry our former memories forward, how we reconcile them, and what it means to make peace with our actions and the dreams we once had.
