Monelise

I am a songwriter, composer and performer specialising in creating cinematic, ethereal soundscapes and unique, otherworldly lyrics. I am inspired by artists that push the boundaries of lyric, production and sound; Kate Bush, Bjork, Julee Cruise, James Blake, Leonard Cohen. I have completed a Masters Degree in Popular Music at Goldsmiths University. My musical work ranges from writing, producing and performing for my own artist project to providing anything from lyrics to sonic textures for other artists. My work has been featured in a Topshop in-store campaign as well as an independent documentary "13th Step". I have written lyrics for artists such as John Linhart, the DJ Axmod, The Patch, and many more. My latest original live show "Hauntology", premiered at Edinburgh Fringe, earned 5 star reviews and was described as "a spellbinding, magical performance, one that encourages you to become lost as you delve deep into your memories and the memories of others". I specialise in creating cinematic, immersive sound worlds with a touch of "cosmic" energy - something that puts listeners in almost a meditative state. I am also passionate about writing moving, thought-provoking lyrics that fall in perfect synergy with the music. I love the notion of creating music that sounds like it has "always existed". Technically, I have basic production skills and play piano, synths and Theremin, as well as being a singer.
