The Wood Floors – Pursuing The Muse In 2003 Chris Howe and Eric Scheiner formed The Wood Floors as an experimental side project to capture the creative Muse the moment she entered the room. 18 years and 60-plus releases later, the “side” project has grown into something bigger than either had envisioned. The Floors warm themselves by burning genres and expectations in their pursuit of the Muse. The flames are colorful and the embers smolder. A rotating cast of characters sometimes join them in their endeavors, both in-studio and on stage, but principally Scheiner and (always) Howe lead the hunt. When the Muse in their grasp the music is breathtaking. When she dances by and eludes them, their sonic trap fires off and the collateral damage is engaging in its own right. The tonal structures built to the lure in the Muse can be as ornate as the Taj Mahal or as simple as a stick hut. But all the structures have in common the feature of The Wood Floors.
