About Amiel Matthews

I have been playing for over 30 years, and singing and performing professionally for more than 17 years. My original music, via my band at the time, has seen me receive commercial radio airplay as well as support acts such as Rise Against, The Used, The Butterfly Effect and Taxiride. Gigging has been a constant source of income and satisfaction by sticking it to the man by not getting a real job. In recent years I have discovered film and stage composing. I was music director/composer for ‘Windscreen Watch’, a 6 episode series that aired on Channel 31 in Melbourne in 2016. In 2016 and 2017 I placed well in the Isabell Menton Choral competition. In 2018 I won the commission to compose the SATB finale piece for the inaugural Raise Your Voice Choral Festival in Brisbane, sponsored by Trade and Investment Queensland. The two day event took place in Suncorp Piazza at SouthBank and the choir performing Amiel’s composition consisted of over 300 singers. In 2019 I was one of the primary composers for the Charlotte Pitot musical ‘What we leave behind’. The COVID pandemic opened opportunities to create video content for various organisations when the world went into lockdown. This has now become another staple in my content creating arsenal.
