Hi, I'm Alan, and I know music. I've worked in an A&R capacity for labels and publishers for many years starting as a lowly talent scout rising to MD/Director of A&R for several major companies, including Chrysalis (3 years) ,Universal (14 years), EMI (2 years), and Stage Three Music/BMG (9 years). In my time at Universal I also headed up a Soundtrack department and was Music Supervisor on '4 Weddings And A Funeral', 'French Kiss', 'Bean The Movie' (which won an Ivor Novello Award) and 'Bridget Jones's Diary' all for Working Title/Universal. Prior to Covid I set up a Record shop/cafe/art gallery/venue called 'Matters Of Vinyl Importance' this closed in March 2020 although still continues as an online service. Future plans include a physical label and publishing co, a book publishing co and restarting the events company. All these were progressing nicely but were 'paused' following the locking and the closure of the premises.
