I'm an Emmy Award winning Songwriter and ACM Song Of The Year Nominee. I've won 15 ASCAP Awards and written with some of the biggest artists in the world, in Country, Pop & Rock. Dimitri Arnauts (°1973) is a composer who has dedicated himself to uplift and delight hearts, souls and minds through the reaffirmed beauty of melody, harmony, polyphony and counterpoint, and through the innumerable colors of instruments and human voices. He has written numerous works of various sizes and settings, being mainly cantatas, psalms, oratorios, concertos, symphonies and symphonic poems, and other vocal or orchestral works. As an autodidact, Dimitri feels free to follow the paths of his heart, both in the aesthetics of his music as in the emotion and message it aims to convey. He does his work to the best of his abilities, in recognition of received graces and gifts, having nothing in sight but the elevation of the spirit, the delight of the soul and the enchantment of the heart. Loving to be at the humble service of Goodness, Truth and Beauty - and bearing this service and testimony with joy and gratefulness towards the Creator - he established from the very beginning the foundations of his musical art on the Western tradition of tonal harmony, euphony, complex polyphony, fugue and counterpoint. With an eclectic mix of genre, and distinct vocals, my music will take you on a journey of imagination. I am a multi-instrumentalist, playing Trumpet, Saxophone, Percussion, Bass, Piano, Ukulele and Guitar. My sound has been described as a mix between Hozier, Sufjan Stevens, and a young Leonard Cohen. I go under the name Scalawag, and I will be sure to both make you nostalgic for things you've never experienced, and keep your head bopping and your torso grooving. I grew up in the small town of Smithers, B.C. in a very artistic household: my Mother, a painter, writer, and magazine publisher; my dad, a graphic designer, set designer and guitarist/singer. From an early age, I was exposed to live music, attending concerts and music festivals around northern B.C. I started playing music when I received my first guitar at age 7 and continued throughout elementary and high school where I played tenor saxophone and trumpet in several school bands, and sang in the jazz and choral choirs. My career in music began the year after I graduated high school when I and long time friend, Zak Windle, started writing music together under the name Ranger Smash. We co-produced and released our first 10-track album together in June, 2016. During this time, I was also attending the conservatory acting program at Studio 58 in Vancouver where I honed my crooneresque style, and developed my vocal technique. After graduating, I went on to write, record and self-produce my first solo album under the name Scalawag, released in March, 2019, during my Album release tour. More recently, I released two singles “Touch” in late 2020, getting tagged “The silky smooth articulation…We are in love!” By Tonemill, and garnering a 90% score on Submithub. My subsequent single “You On My Mind,” released in February 2021 to critical acclaim "Scalawag soothes your spirit while filling you with the warm blossoming energy of falling in love" -The Other Side Reviews. "The atmospheric elements of this track really set it apart in a crowded folk scene right now." -Ear to the Ground.

Hello, I'm a Jazz and classically trained musician with a background in broadcast and audio engineering. As a DJ and producer, I have a background in music education as well as technical production and strive to stay up to date with trends within the electronic music world. I focus on sound design and music education within the electronic dance music genre. I also work with Native Instruments as a product specialist.

With 30+ years in the business, working for and collaborating with a multitude of commercially successful artists, producers, DJs, film composers and advertising agencies, I am always looking for fresh projects that challenge my audiophile mind. In my own studio, I usually write & produce in Ableton Live, and record, mix and master in ProTools. Happy in either environment, I sometimes use both concurrently via Rewire. I did a *lot* of remixing in the 90s and 00s, and still enjoy doing so. Leftfield and experimental sound design have always been favourites of mine, as well as composing to picture. Composition for TV advertising in New York, and collaboration on a number of feature films with the named composers brought plenty of sound to picture experience, and I taught Audio Post Production at Full Sail, Orlando. I spent the first 10 years of my career working at a studio privately run by dance/rock pioneers Apollo 440 in London. Now working freelance, I draw on all the knowledge and experience I gained working with countless singers/bands/artists/producers (both established and new) on all sorts of different projects. Mixing is not simply a technical procedure, it's a creative process. You can get a song sounding good a million different ways using all kinds of techniques but does it make the listener feel the way it's supposed to? I am a perfectionist. Even when I know "perfect" isn't something that's actually possible most of the time, that doesn't stop me striving to achieve that for myself and more importantly the artist I'm mixing music for.
