I’m a Los Angeles based mixer originally hailing from Toronto, Canada. Through unique attention and dedication to audio quality, I’ve worked as an engineer and/or mixer on JUNO Award winning albums from Emilie-Claire Barlow and Dean Brody, as well as Gold/Platinum releases from Bryan Adams, Matt Dusk, and Mia Martina. By always ensuring the music and artistic vision come first, I’ve developed a stellar reputation as artists rediscover the value of a dedicated mix engineer. With over a decade of experience working in recording studios, I have honed my craft to bring a dynamic and musical approach to mixing. By putting emphasis on enhancing the core of the production, my focus is to bring out the individuality that each artist and song has to offer. My ultimate goal is to help amplify the artist's message and to deliver the best results for my clients.

I am a multi-style cellist, composer, videographer, and photographer originally from New York now based in Nashville, TN. With two classical music degrees under my belt and a wealth of experience improvising and writing my own music, I feel pretty comfortable in most musical settings, especially the Americana genres. When I'm not in the studio, I'm on the road with Country singer-songwriter Brandy Clark pretending that I'm an entire string section with a huge pedal board. I also have my own band called Oliver the Crow (whom NPR called an “inspired collaboration") and a string quartet called the Atwood Quartet. I've got a solo album coming out this fall with all my own compositions (also recorded right in my home!). Besides these current gigs, I've collaborated with trumpeter and composer Frank London of the Klezmatics and North Indian classical music tabla player Shawn Mativetsky. My playing can be heard on albums by bluegrass guitar virtuoso Billy Strings, the Call of Duty video game series, as well as dozens more major motion picture soundtracks and albums. My former folk duo, Bride & Groom, toured Canada and America extensively, growing a sizable audience. I use my wealth of musical experience in inform her work with other musicians in the realms of photography and videography. I have produced visual works for Sarah Jarosz, Molly Tuttle, Jillette Johnson, and more. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree and a Performer’s Certificate from Purchase College, State University of New York where I studied with Julia Lichten and a Master of Music degree from McGill University where I studied with Matt Haimovitz.

With an eclectic mix of genre, and distinct vocals, my music will take you on a journey of imagination. I am a multi-instrumentalist, playing Trumpet, Saxophone, Percussion, Bass, Piano, Ukulele and Guitar. My sound has been described as a mix between Hozier, Sufjan Stevens, and a young Leonard Cohen. I go under the name Scalawag, and I will be sure to both make you nostalgic for things you've never experienced, and keep your head bopping and your torso grooving. I grew up in the small town of Smithers, B.C. in a very artistic household: my Mother, a painter, writer, and magazine publisher; my dad, a graphic designer, set designer and guitarist/singer. From an early age, I was exposed to live music, attending concerts and music festivals around northern B.C. I started playing music when I received my first guitar at age 7 and continued throughout elementary and high school where I played tenor saxophone and trumpet in several school bands, and sang in the jazz and choral choirs. My career in music began the year after I graduated high school when I and long time friend, Zak Windle, started writing music together under the name Ranger Smash. We co-produced and released our first 10-track album together in June, 2016. During this time, I was also attending the conservatory acting program at Studio 58 in Vancouver where I honed my crooneresque style, and developed my vocal technique. After graduating, I went on to write, record and self-produce my first solo album under the name Scalawag, released in March, 2019, during my Album release tour. More recently, I released two singles “Touch” in late 2020, getting tagged “The silky smooth articulation…We are in love!” By Tonemill, and garnering a 90% score on Submithub. My subsequent single “You On My Mind,” released in February 2021 to critical acclaim "Scalawag soothes your spirit while filling you with the warm blossoming energy of falling in love" -The Other Side Reviews. "The atmospheric elements of this track really set it apart in a crowded folk scene right now." -Ear to the Ground.

After obtaining a Bachelor's degree from McGill University, Ken pursued a full time music career. Starting with guitar performance for off-Broadway musicals in New York (NY) and in Montreal (QC), his career quickly gained traction. He continued performing on guitar, voice, percussion, keyboards and bass for many events such as: opening act for Mumford and Sons, Jazz Fest, 4 sold out Metropolis with the Franklin Electric, and Osheaga main stage. As a musician, in the last three years alone, he toured in over 18 countries with The Franklin Electric (Juno nominated), Patrick Lehman (Juno nominated), and others with roles in guitar, keys, vocals and bass. In addition to tours, he has performed across multiple nationally televised and broadcasted venues including: The Bachelorette Canada, ABC (national Australian radio), Canada AM, Radio Eins (Germany's premier radio), Qmusic (Danish T.V.), and Inas Nacht (German television with over 3 million viewers). Beyond performance, Ken has arranged (bass and guitar) on many records including Patrick Lehman's 'Buthcy's Son' (Juno nominated) and The Franklin Electric's 'Blue Ceilings'; 'In Your Head', and 'In Your Heart’. This initial experience has motivated a deeper commitment toward writing and arrangement for artists across North America across a range a styles that go beyond Ken’s original experience in country music. In particular, these genres now include folk, indie, pop and rock artists. Ken directly attributes this versatility in style to the successful production since 2018 alone of E.P.’s and singles for Velvet Black, Allison Fortier, Emilie Skahan, Lia, Delta Creek and many other Canadian and American artists.

I am a veteran multi-instrumentalist with 15+ years of experience ranging from vocals, guitar, bass, to producing, engineering, and arranging in my studio South First Sound in WIlliamsburg Brooklyn. My remaining time is spent writing and touring full-time with my band The National Reserve. Our music has appeared in multiple television productions for NBC, CBS, and FX.

Los Angeles native, Gil Sharone, is highly regarded as one of the most versatile session and touring drummers in the world, who is known for his creativity, authenticity and strong pocket. He is a multiple-time industry award winner as a drummer, but will often wear other hats as a co-writer, producer, and an educator/clinician. Gil came to notoriety in the rock world as a former member of The Dillinger Escape Plan, Puscifer, Marilyn Manson, Stolen Babies and Team Sleep. However, he is widely known as an expert in other genres. Reggae, ska and rocksteady were part of his earliest influences along with jazz, funk, hip hop and fusion. Gil has established himself in the Jamaican drumming styles, authoring an award winning DVD and book entitled Wicked Beats, after playing with legends Eek-A-Mouse, HR of Bad Brains, Dave Wakeling, and more recently with Slightly Stoopid, Morgan Heritage, and his current reggae/dub outfit, Gil, Migs and Rog. Gil is also an active member of a genre bending music collective, Saudade, where you can hear his jazz fusion collaborations with jazz greats John Medeski, David Torn, Robert Thomas Jr., Dr. Know and Chuck Doom. Gil’s work further extends into the film/television world, working with composers Tyler Bates and Paul Haslinger. His work can be heard in Deadpool 2, Guardians of The Galaxy 2, all three John Wick movies, The Punisher (Netflix), Kingdom and Stumptown. He has also contributed both as a player and co-writer on the DC Comics: Dark Nights Metal Soundtrack, and his most recent work can be heard in the musical score for the live action Cirque du Soleil show, R.U.N.

To know yourself and accept yourself can be one of life’s greatest challenges. But what I do know about myself is that I have a gift for creating and that art has always been my main passion. Ever since I could pick up a crayon I would draw, and at a young age I dreamt of being a comic book artist. As my teenage years went by I picked up playing guitar, and music quickly became another major influence on my life. Upon graduating high school I went to a local community college for Art/Graphic Design. I disliked the program, failed my first year, and switched my academic focus to the Recoding Arts and to Music. Within a few years I had 2 degrees in the Recording Arts (Full Sail University) and 1 in Music Business (Full Sail University) and a job at a major audio production house in NYC (HSR|NY). In 2011 I moved back to my hometown of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. settled into a house and starting working for my Grandfathers business in HVAC. During this time I put together a professional home recording studio, played in bands, taught myself piano, and networked with local artists. In 2019 I began questioning my life, and purpose. I started reading a lot of books, and listening to a lot of Alan Watts. Somewhere in my readings I discovered sacred geometry and it instantly struck a chord. After 13yrs of not drawing I picked the pencil back up and started drawing geometry at work during my downtime. When Covid19 hit the United States, I got laid off from work and found myself with a lot of time on my hands; so I started drawing for hours a day. Shorty after without any expectation, my art got noticed. Over a short course of a few months I have done art for restaurants, sold commissioned works, and have received recognition globally from businesses, artists, and fans. I have recently been asked to have my work featured in galleries, and am in the process of designing a clothing line and doing album art. 3 of my greatest influences are Rafael Araujo, Daniel Martin Diaz, and Andy Gilmore. Working with artists is something I love to do and would love to continue to do. I hope to inspire others and be inspired in return. My name is A.J. Lifetime musician, I’ve been mixing recordings and live shows since the late 90s. I mainly produce House, Hip Hop, RnB and Pop but have more mixing and mastering experience in Rock and Pop. My go tos for mixing are FabFilter, UAD, SoundToys and Waves plugins (some of my favourite are the 1176s, LA-2A, Pultec EQs, SSL Bus Compressor, etc.) and FabFilter ProQ. My mastering chain is a combination of FabFilter (Pro Q & Pro L) and analog emulations for tone. I provide a lower rate to work vocals into a premixed beat or instrumental.
