For pedal steel, banjo, or dobro overdubs, please use my guitar service. Whether it’s finding that perfect, singable melody or ripping a solo, my greatest joy is to serve the song. As a session player, I’ve recorded on hundreds of songs including overdubs for multi-platinum and grammy nominated songwriters and arrangers. As a performer, I’ve played on stages from Red Rocks to the smallest dive bars with over 40 bands in North America and Europe and have been direct support for acts as disparate as Whitey Morgan, RJD2, Darlingside, Timber, Timbre, and Marshall Crenshaw. I offer professional pedal steel, banjo, bass, dobro, and guitar overdubs for your song of any genre recorded with high end amps, mics, and analog preamps. I love developing lustrous melodies with subtleties and nuance, catchy hooks, or lush beds of harmony for pop, country, jazz, americana, folk, indie rock, hip hop, and more. I love to experiment! I’m also a mixing engineer with a trained ear for telling a song’s story with clarity and conviction. I have worked on songs produced by: Thomas Bartlett (Taylor Swift, Norah Jones, Henry Jamison, Sufjan Stevens, Florence & the Machine) Alasdair Roberts (David Byrne, Bonnie Prince Billie, Songs: Ohia) Jon Gilbert (Mt. Joy, The Kills, Pete Yorn) Peter Broderick (arr. "He's the reincarnation and modern-day version of Prince. A mix between Justin Timberlake, and a splash of MJ, but if Prince was singing. If I'm lying, listen for yourself..." [-Game, C.E.O., Owner, BusyWorksBeats.com]. I was raised by a single mom/famous morning radio Dj of Top-40 hits, so I stared at the radio {3-yrs-old} instead of cartoons, to hear my mom's voice, being taught music of the late 80's and 90's, instilled into my brain the electronic sound of synth and pop. Today, I use all new modern pop sound, but that same synth and vocoding tools that people love and crave in their electronic familiarity. My only wish is to give more to those who listen to music. To give back that same passion that music brought to me at such a young age; that familiarity, that comfort that I craved as a young boy.

Clarke’s fascination with recorded music started when his father asked him to record training seminars he was presenting for the Air Force Reserve. After Clarke finished editing his father’s speeches, he would record his favorite songs off the radio and practice editing those. Clarke decided to pursue recording engineering and enrolled in Middle Tennessee State University. While in college, he continued playing music, pursued audio engineering and minored in business management. After graduation he immediately started working as a recording engineer and studio manager for the legendary music publishing company Cedarwood in Nashville, TN. Later he worked as a recording engineer at the Bennett House Studios where he worked with Neil Young, Amy Grant and Dion among others. Now an independent engineer, he has been a staple in Nashville studios working with the industry’s top producers, artists and musicians. Joan Baez, Martina McBride, Taylor Swift, Sara Evans, Marie Osmond, Dixie Chicks, Pam Tillis, Mark Chesnutt, The Band Perry, Blake Shelton, and Lady Antebellum have all been successful clients. Over the span of his career, Clarke has earned three Grammy Awards, twenty #1 singles and ten #1 albums. I'm an engineer, drummer and percussionist who's worked with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and The National Art Center Orchestra, Capital Brass Works, along with many other bands and ensembles. I made the move to Montreal as a drummer and audio engineer in 2011 and became a full-time freelancer. I've toured extensively throughout 2013, and since returning to Montreal I've been working mainly as a recording and mixing engineer. I had a chance to work on 2 Felix winning albums, with Alex Desilets, Windigo and Laurence Jalbert, Ma Route, and was recently recording engineer for the Juno and Canadian Folk Music Award-nominated album Hapax, by the band Oktopus (who I now play drums with). As for the genre of music that I work on, I don't necessarily decide that for myself, but it gets determined by the projects I get hired to work on. I like music that's been well-honed, and the importance of the genre for me is secondary to that. I find the music itself tells me where to take the sound, and by having good communication with the artist/s we can make sure we're thinking along the same lines, plus I get to learn what the artist hears/has in mind. When I do work on a new genre, I like to find new tricks that associate with that genre, but I also have a bag of my own tricks that I can bring to the table, which helps me bring a different light to a common sound.
