The Canvas Group is a producer duo, Nic Gracia and Rob Marshall, based in San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles. The two have been making music together for over a decade and since opening their studio in 2015, have over 200 releases with more than 40 artists without the help of outside management, a publishing house, or label support. Their work has helped several unsigned artists land sync on Hulu & ABC, reach millions of streams across various platforms, gain placement official Spotify playlists, receive regional and international radio play (KITS ALT 105.3FM, BBC Radio 1), and perform at regional music festivals (BottleRock, ALT 105.3 BFD, Van’s Warped Tour). In 2020, they were nominated for an Emmy for “Outstanding Original Song” with their Nation Television debut of the song “North Star” by William Lipton on the hit ABC daytime drama General Hospital which was co-written, produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by the duo.

I play the Golden Throat Talkbox, using a Yamaha DX-100 a la Roger. I have since 1995 when I befriended Roger Troutman on a tour through California. Roger gave me the secrets to his sound and his production techniques, guitar riffs, gear and how he plays the Talkbox. You need some Talkbox work a la Roger, or some funk guitar a la, Roger, then get with the best. R.I.P. Roger Bray Gurnari, is credited on 6 tracks of the debut “Revolution’ LP with the Punk Funk Mob. Recently in 2020, Johnie had recording credits with, Too Short, Baby Bash, and The Punk Funk Mob’s respective singles to be released in 2021.
